Watersheds
There are sixty-four upstream flood control structures in Lincoln County. All of these structures were built by the Natural Resources Conservation Services (formerly Soil Conservation Service) under Public Law 566. They serve to protect life and property from catastrophic flooding.
The Bear, Fall & Coon Creek watershed project contains five structures.
The Dry Creek watershed project contains eight structures.
The Kickapoo Nations watershed project contains four structures.
The Quapaw Creek watershed project contains thiry-five structures.
The Robinson Creek watershed project contains five structures.
Tthe Little Deep Fork watershed project contains four structures.
All but Dry Creek are sub-watersheds of the Deep Fork Watershed (Dry Creek drains into the Cimmarron River watershed). The District is the primary sponsor on all but four structures and is responsible for their operation and maintenance. The four remaining sites are under the principal sponsorship of a municipality and are operated by each as a multi-purpose site. The Cities of Chandler, Meeker, Prague and Sparks use these sites for water supply and/or recreation.
